Spring arrives at Clover Hill Winery

Bud Burst in the Vineyard
Signs of life are clearly visible in the vineyards. The buds are near ready to burst, the grass is green, the blue birds have returned, and we are rejoicing with a glass of wine this spring. That is one of the most exciting things about growing grapes; every spring we are reminded that we have another chance to grow a little better grape. Keep your fingers crossed for a picture perfect grape growing year in Pennsylvania.

Events are also overflowing with life at Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery. We hope you find a great reason to visit us whether it is for a tour, music or just a quiet afternoon with a glass of wine on the patio. Be our guest and pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a glass of wine with us any day of the week.

Thank you for choosing to drink local and supporting Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery. We are honored that Clover Hill wine graces your table this spring, Easter, or Passover.

Owner's Selection - Cayuga White
If you could bottle the taste of spring it might just taste like Cayuga White! This wine expresses fresh, fruity flavors of mango, melon and ruby grapefruit. A semi-sweet finish is best served chilled sitting outside with good company. Here are some of our favorite recipes to go with Cayuga White!

Enjoy a 10% discount on Cayuga White the entire month of April. Receive a 20% discount on the Owner's Selection when included with case purchases.

Mark your calendars for Wine in Bloom

March Madness 2011 is now officially over! We hope everyone had a great time visiting our wineries, trying new wines, and sampling our food and wine pairings. We'll do it all again next year.

And just a reminder that passports for the 2012 event will go on sale this fall during our Nouveau Weekend event in November. So mark your calendars and plan to purchase them early since March Madness passports sell out every year!

Our event calendar for 2011 includes a new event in May called Wine in Bloom. It replaces last year's A.V.A. Weekend event in April. We wanted to give you, our customers, and ourselves a little more time to "recover" from March Madness and decided that May would be a better and warmer month for this event.

Held on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22, this event takes place mid-spring as bud break occurs on the vines. It celebrates the importance that terroir (soil) plays in the development of the grapes, their flavor and the resulting taste of the wine, and stresses the importance of the A.V.A. designation (American Viticultural Area) in further legitimizing the Lehigh Valley for wine making.

An A.V.A. designation was awarded in April 2008 to the wineries in this region after a five-year application process. In order to receive the designation a least 75% of the grapes used to make the local wines must be grown within the region. Wineries in the region are permitted to list “Lehigh Valley” as the growing region on their labels.

Our wineries will be hosting vineyard tours, offering food and wine pairings, and some will even have live entertainment. It will be a fun yet educational event.

So we will see you next in May! Or visit our individual wineries any time between now and then!

Upcoming Lehigh Valley Wine Trail events

Wine on the Mountain may be over, but we still have three more Lehigh Valley Wine Trail events coming up yet this year. They are:

•    Harvest Weekend – The Butcher, The Baker and The Winemaker – September 11 & 12 – The wineries proudly promote the state’s “Pennsylvania Preferred” program by partnering with manufacturers of other Pennsylvania products to showcase their high level of quality. Wine pairings, vineyard tours, food, music and other special activities are featured.

•    Chambourcin Weekend – October 16 & 17 - Taking place after the harvest is over, this event celebrates the “official wine grape of the Lehigh Valley,” the Chambourcin.

•    Nouveau Weekend – November 20 & 21 - This is the earliest chance to sample the first vintages of the new harvest. It’s also a great opportunity to purchase wines for the upcoming holiday season to give as gifts or to drink at dinner. March Madness passports also go on sale this weekend.

Mark your calendar and plan to join us for all of them. We hope to see you there!
