Galen Glen extends winery hours and the dog starts a blog

It's spring and vines are not the only thing growing at Galen Glen Winery. We're adding staff and hours as well as watching our Facebook page come out of its dormant winter state into a full-blown spring growth.  Have you "Liked" us yet? If not you've been missing out on our updates and contests.

We are offering things like "Fan Friday" contests, information on BYO restaurants and establishments that carry our wines, giving general and fun wine facts, sharing our photographs of the vineyard and informing you first of upcoming events.

Plus, rumor has it that Clemmens the dog has started his own winery blog. Please "Like" us on Facebook and join in the conversation with other fans who are writing on our wall.

We also wanted to share some great news with you. Beginning June 12 the winery will have additional weekday hours. We are adding Wednesday and Thursday and will be open from noon to 5 pm. Please stop by to see us.

A wine blogger visits the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail

Our friend and wine blogger Paul Vigna recently visited the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail which he has been writing about for years but not really visited.

On a recent Saturday in June, Paul informed us that he would be driving through our region of eastern Pennsylvania on his way to visit family in New Jersey and would have a limited amount of time for winery visits, tours and tastings.

So he chose to visit Clover Hill and Vynecrest wineries which are located just a mile apart from each other in Breinigsville. At Clover Hill he joined a group on a walking tour of the vineyard and winery followed by tastings with co-owner Kari Skrip.

Then he visited with Jan and John Landis of Vynecrest for a peek downstairs in their Vyneskeller, followed by a round of wine tastings at the upstairs tasting bar and a little soccer match watching in the background. All-in-all we think Paul enjoyed his visit and will come back as soon as possible to visit the other seven wineries on the trail.

Paul's main profession is as the sports editor for Harrisburg's Patriot-News daily newspaper. But his love is wine. So his blog, The Wine Classroom, has its home on the PennLive.com web site of his employer. Here's a link to his first blog post about his recent visit, one on Vynecrest entitled "It's the battle of the Chardonnays at Vynecrest Winery." Give it a read and tell us what you think of it.

Pinnacle Ridge Winery graces the cover of a leading trade magazine

Congratulations to Lehigh Valley Wine Trail member Pinnacle Ridge Winery in Kutztown for being featured as the cover story in the current edition of Vineyard & Winery Management Magazine.

This is a high profile placement for the winery in a key trade publication. Owners Brad Knapp and Christy Allen were interviewed for the article which also features several great photos of the winery.

Our blogger friend Paul Vigna with The Wine Classroom picked up on it and added his own input in his blog post.

Have you visited Pinnacle Ridge? What wines did you try? Which one was your favorite?

We'd like to hear from you. Give us your feedback!
