Lehigh Valley wines win top honors

2011 PA Farm Show medals

Congratulations to Vynecrest, Pinnacle Ridge and Franklin Hill wineries on their medals at the recent PA Farm Show in Harrisburg.

Franklin Hill won a Silver for its Harvest Berry 2010, and Bronzes for Chambourcin 2010 and Pomegranate Peach 2010.

Pinnacle Ridge won Best Vinifera and Double Gold for its Pinot Noir 2010, a Gold for its Late Harvest Vidal 2010, Silvers for Veritas 2008 and Chardonnay 2010, and Bronzes for Riesling 2010 and Traminette 2010.

And Vynecrest won a Silver for its Chambourcin 2010 and a Bronze for its Cabernet Franc 2010.

Vynecrest Winery wins top honors at PA Wine Excellence Awards

Vynecrest Winery of Breinigsville received accolades at the recent PA Wine Excellence X Competition in Harrisburg.

The Pennsylvania Wine Society bestowed top honors to Vynecrest's 2010 Chambourcin Reserve.

Vynecrest's 2010 Cabernet Franc, a bronze medal winner at the Farm Show, also finished in the top 10 at the Wine Excellence X show.

Help get Vynecrest on the map!

Here's the June update from Vynecrest Winery in Breinigsville.

We just finished a great festival at Longwood Gardens and look forward to the our next festival at Split Rock this weekend.

The Vyneskeller patio is open and we just added new tables and chairs outside. Don't forget we have live music every Saturday.

Paint the Map Green!

Show off where you have taken Vynecrest wine or Vynecrest gear. Send a picture to wine@vynecrest.com or post a picture on Vynecrest's Facebook page and we will add you to the map and possibly put you on the following month's slide show at the winery. We need to get at least one picture from every state. So far we have Pennsylvania, Maine & Montana covered. Help us paint the map green!

  • June 18 - Music in the Vyneskeller, Arianne Rox
  • June 18 & 19 - Split Rock Wine Festival, noon to 6 pm both days - The two day outdoor festival will be held on the grounds of Split Rock Resort located in beautiful Lake Harmony. The festival will feature continuous musical entertainment on three separate stages, Pennsylvania’s finest wineries and a wide selection of food vendors to tempt your taste buds. Educational seminars will be held during the festival so check them out and learn some new things about wine. Split Rock also offers a weekend package for our overnight guests. Each festival attendee will receive a commemorative wine tasting glass. Purchase tickets here.
  • June 25 - Music in the Vyneskeller, Andy Warren & Dan Harakal. Also a vineyard tour with the winemaker at 1 pm, $5 / person, reservations suggested.
  • July 2 - Music in the Vyneskeller, Acoustic oldies with Art
*All music starts at 1 pm and is free of charge.

In The Vineyard - Flowering Chambourcin

The weather was been great the past couple of weeks and as a result the vines have started to flower. We will soon have small grape berries growing on all of the vines. We are busy removing excess shoots from the vines and positioning the remaining shoots for optimal growth.

Updates from Vynecrest Winery

If you didn't receive the latest e-newsletter from Vynecrest Winery in Breinigsville, here is what you missed:

Our 2010 harvest has come to a close at Vynecrest, and our vines are settling in for a long winter's nap. The colors throughout our vineyards are spectacular and well worth a peek over the next few weeks. We will continue to be open seven days a week, 11-5pm, through the end of the year.

Have no fear Blueberry is Here!!! November 6 & 7

Vynecrest Winery is excited to announce the release of our first ever Blueberry Wine. Our Blueberry wine will be officially released this Saturday. Stop by the winery this weekend for complementary samples of the Blueberry wine ($13.99) along with a lemon poppy-seed pound cake made by Hereford Country Store, a fellow vendor with Vynecrest at the Macungie Farm Market, a Buy Fresh Buy Local Market.

  • November 20 and 21 - Lehigh Valley Wine Trail Nouveau Weekend - Vynecrest will be pairing our 2010 Vintage Nouveau Beaujolais ($10.99) made from the Gamay grape with pulled roast turkey barbecue sliders (recipe available). In the Vyneskeller wine bar, Arianne Rox will be playing on Saturday and Rob & Marty on Sunday, 1-4:30. Free Admission. Nouveau Weekend is also when passports for March Madness 2011 go on sale. Passports will be $30 each before January 1, 2011 and $35 after that date, so order yours early and remember, they make great Christmas presents for friends and family.
  • November 26 - Christkindlmarkt Opens in Bethlehem Vynecrest Winery will once again be the only winery featured at this historic holiday festival which runs for four weeks every Thursday-Sunday.
